SAAFF Community Agreements
& COVID-19 Protocols
Seattle Asian American Film Festival is committed to providing an open, safe, and welcoming community for everyone who attends our events. We hold steadfast in our commitment to freedom of creative expression while simultaneously lifting up anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-discriminatory practices within all areas of the SAAFF Community. We do not condone or tolerate conduct that is inappropriate, disruptive, abusive, or threatening.
Therefore, we ask that everyone in the Festival community—artists, audiences, volunteers, press, industry, staff, and beyond—does their part in creating an environment that is welcoming and safe to all by committing to the below SAAFF Community Agreements:
- Be inclusive and respectful of people of every race, ethnicity, gender identity/expression, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, age, physical appearance and body size, language spoken, and immigration or economic status
- Be intentional with your words by abstaining from hate speech or inappropriate actions of any kind, including the abuse of chat functions or impersonating other people or organizations.
- Be mindful of the personal space and boundaries of others by avoiding unwelcome sexual attention, harassment, stalking, and inappropriate physical contact of any kind.
- Be respectful of moderators, artists, and audience members. Refrain from sustained disruption of film screenings and live events.
- Be considerate of the work of artists by refraining from phishing and pirating the work of SAAFF filmmakers and performing artists.
- Keep our community healthy by staying home if you are feeling unwell to reduce the risk of catching or spreading illness, even if your symptoms are mild.
- Be safe, as safety protocols change and evolve rapidly, SAAFF will continue to follow guidelines issued by applicable federal, state, and local authorities. As of March 1, 2022, to be allowed access to any of our in-person events, we ask that all people age 12 and older must provide proof of either, (a) confirmation of full vaccination (14 days since final dose of vaccine) or (b) a negative COVID-19 PCR test (taken within 72 hours of the event). If you are attending multiple events during the festival, a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours will be required prior to every event, not just the first event you attend.
- Wear a face covering. Based on recent masking guidance, SAAFF will still be requiring masks to be worn for all individuals over the age of two when attending any SAAFF events in person, regardless of vaccination or negative test results, starting March 1, 2022.
If anyone violates our community agreements, then SAAFF reserves the right to remove person(s) and/or prohibit them from further participation in future SAAFF events.
