SAAFF 2020 Call for Submissions is Open!
July 4, 2019
Calling all Asian American filmmakers! The 2020 Seattle Asian American Film Festival is now accepting submissions. Our festival features works by and about North Americans of Asian descent, with an emphasis on filmmakers and stories from the Pacific Northwest.
SAAFF provides a platform for Asian American voices, perspectives, and histories through film. As the city of Seattle continues to change, the festival centers the remarkable impact made in the region by Asian American artists, activists, and community leaders. In the national and international context, SAAFF seeks to challenge the systems and individuals that attempt to keep us down or force us out. We curate a collection of short and feature-length narrative and documentary films that truly demonstrate the best of current Asian American independent filmmaking, and celebrate the depths and complexities of the Asian American experience.
SAAFF is a volunteer-run organization that has been awarded grants by 4Culture, ArtsWA, ArtsFund, Pride Foundation, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. Over 3,000 people attend our events each year, which include the annual four-day festival in February and C-ID Summer Cinema series in August. Since 2013, we have partnered with over twenty community organizations including JACL, OCA: Greater Seattle, Asian Counseling and Referral Service, and the Asian American Journalists Association.
We accept films of any length and genre that were completed in 2018 or later. The non-refundable fee for regular deadline entry is $20.00 before October 1 (late deadline is $30.00 before October 31). Films must be submitted for review digitally on Vimeo.com or on FilmFreeway. Our seventh annual festival is scheduled for February 20-23, 2020. To review the rules and terms of submission, please visit our FilmFreeway page.
